Uniform treatment protocol to manage type-2 diabetes - CTMR

A uniform treatment protocol backed by 59 practising Siddha physicians and NGOs across Tamil Nadu was put forward by the Chennai-based Centre for Traditional Medicines and Research (CTMR) for managing type-2 diabetes.

The protocol was declared in a seminar of Siddha doctors on the world diabetes day in Chennai by CTMR. According to the organisation, the protocol is to be accepted and followed by all Siddha practitioners in India in order to develop a common code of function for diabetes treatment, and rules to regulate it.

Due to lack of an established pattern for applying Siddha treatment methods on patients at different places, the stakeholders are losing so many advantages and the system is ignored on several occasions, opined doctors assembled in the seminar.

CTMR hits centaury in Digitization of Siddha Manuscripts

One hundred bundles of age-old palm manuscripts collected from different healers and institution trained Siddha physicians have been digitized by CTMR. The project supported by Dept. of AYUSH, Govt. of India commenced in April 2011. The process of collection of the palm manuscripts was done with briefing of different healers associations and individual physicians. The information was also spread through Short Messaging Services and blogging apart from mails. The CTMR team also visited various libraries like Oriental library, Chennai, U.Ve. CTMR seeks law makers' intervention to expedite process of setting up CCRS headquarters in Chennai

Annoyed over the inordinate delay in commencing operations for the Central Council of Research in Siddha (CCRS) in Chennai, as was decided by the central government last year, the Centre for Traditional Medicines and Research (CTMR), a Chennai-based NGO that is dedicated to the promotion of siddha medicines, has sought the intervention of the law makers to expedite the process of setting up the headquarters of the CCRS in Chennai.

CTMR, which has been providing training to the upcoming traditional healers for the last 20 years and facilitating them for advanced researches, has sought the help of local Rajya Sabha Member, T K Rangarajan requesting him to apprise the union health minister about the dilly-dallying by the concerned authorities on the issue.
